IT’S ONLY 2 GAMES, BUT REDSKINS ROOK LB MONTEZ SWEAT IS A NON-EVENT!

Says The Athletic:

Sweat has failed to live up to expectations through the Redskins opening two games.

To be fair, some of the hype generated by his crazy athletic ability has placed unrealistic expectations on him. He was raw as a rusher coming out of Mississippi State, drafted more on his physical traits with the hope of developing his raw tools with good coaching.

He needs to work on developing a plan of attack and improving his array of pass rush moves.

Also worth noting is that his first two games have come against two of the best offensive lines in the NFL in Philly and Dallas. Jason Peters and Tyron Smith have long been considered two of the very best left tackles in the league and Smith, in particular, they have the athleticism to match up to Sweat’s rare combination of size and speed.

It’s clear to see that Sweat’s pass rush is still very much in development:
