Reports TheAthletic.com:
“I honestly believe the only reason he’s not an MVP candidate every year is he doesn’t have social media,” Rendon’s best friend on the team, shortstop Trea Turner said. “I’m not kidding.”
“If he was a flashy guy, pimping homers and bat flipping and tweeting, I think he’d be one of the biggest names in baseball. But that’s not who he is. He’s a humble guy. He plays the game hard and he plays it quietly and I think that’s why he suffers a little bit from the recognition standpoint.”
“Baseball picks their guys that they want to market and they kind of leave some guys in the dust. He’s one of those guys. He’s been this good for a long time. His career numbers are pretty unbelievable, he hits doubles and extra-base hits and doesn’t strike out a lot. Plays unbelievable third base, but Nolan (Arenado) wins the Gold Glove every year, so they forget he’s a good defender.”
