Says Rick Snider on

Dan Snyder doesn’t need the money. He’s worth billions of dollars. People don’t buy $100 million yachts with IMAX theaters unless they have so much money they don’t know what to do with it. Also, Snyder doesn’t care that he’s hated by Redskins fans because it’s not the bubble in which he lives.

Still, the last two weeks have been filled with wishful thinking tied to news stories. The Los Angeles Chargers were supposedly interested in moving to London, which the team has strongly denied. Yet, we all know the NFL will someday reach the continent in its bid for world domination.

Forget Canada or Mexico – the NFL already has those markets. But London . . . well, it’s the gateway to Europe. Yes, it would be a logistical problem playing five hours ahead of the East Coast, but the money will lure the American sport across the sea and players won’t object cause more money makes everybody happen. So, London will surely gain a team in the next five to 10 years.

What team will move abroad? Maybe it will be the Chargers, who will likely be second to the Rams in a city that doesn’t care about the NFL as much as the league cares about ratings by returning to the nation’s second-largest market. Perhaps Jacksonville owner Shahid Khan relocates the Jaguars as widely rumored. But the Redskins – there’s nothing to indicate the nation’s capital will lose its team.

So now we move on to reports Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos wants to own an NFL team. Redskins fans jumped at the prospect of being delivered from 20 years of largely crummy teams under Snyder that has a fair chance of being 2-14 this season.
