WILL REDSKINS RB THOMPSON EVER BE HEALTHY ENOUGH TO RETURN FOR 2019?

By Lewis Gould

Redskins running back Chris Thompson, who has been injured since Week 6, isn’t ready to come back in Week 11.

Thompson has had plenty of injury issues in his career. So this is not really unexpected. However, it still comes as a blow as he’s one of the better pass-catching running backs in all of football.

The Redskins do have something going for them though. Adrian Peterson has looked great in recent weeks, and even more importantly, Derrius Guice is back.

Guice did not play in any games his rookie year due to injury, but appeared ready to go in 2019. The plan did not work out that way though. He played in Washington’s Week 1 contest against the Philadelphia Eagles, then suffered another injury.

This will be his first game back. While Washington would definitely love having Thompson back, at least Guice softens the blow a little bit.

The Redskins are 1-8 and need to find a way to bring some life back to the team. Although Thompson could definitely help with that, so can Guice.

Washington’s Week 11 contest is against the New York Jets. At just 2-7, the Jets present the Redskins with a team they have a legitimate chance of beating.
