The Caps continue to skate roughshod through the NHL.
Five different Washington skaters scored as the Capitals improved to 16-3-4 this season with a big 5-2 win over Anaheim.
Richard Panik with his first, Alex Ovechkin on the power play, Chandler Stephenson, Jakub Vrana and Tom Wilson into the empty net, scored for Washington.
Sam Steel and Nicolas Deslauriers, each with their first of the season, late in the third, were the Ducks only goal scorers.
Brayden Holtby was stellar in net as he stopped 32 shots for his seventh straight win. He is 11-1-3 this season with a 2.91 GAA and a .906 save percentage. While his peripherals are nothing special, the great record is.
John Gibson was in net for Anaheim as they began a four-game road trip. He stopped 26-of-30 shots and is 7-10-0 this season with a 2.91 GAA and a .913 save percentage.
John Carlson had a couple of assists in the contest to run his points streak to seven games.
There was quite the to-do late in the second period as Garnet Hathaway and Erik Gudbranson went at it. Garnet had 15 minutes in penalties including a match penalty for spitting on Gudbranson. Nick Ritchie picked up a game misconduct for being the third man in while Gudbranson also picked up a misconduct in addition to a roughing minor.
Nick Jensen led both teams with five shots on goal.
