Reports The Athletic:
Running back Adrian Peterson failed to make an agreed-upon settlement payment on a defaulted loan by its October 2019 due date, and now the lender is seeking to collect at least $7.8 million from the NFL player, according to documents filed in Erie County (N.Y.) Supreme Court.
Meanwhile, his lawyer in the case is scheduled this week to ask the judge overseeing the case to allow him to drop Peterson as a client because of unpaid invoices topping $72,000.
These are just the latest financial issues for the surefire Hall of Famer, who has rushed for 14,216 yards in his career, fifth on the NFL’s all-time list and 4,139 behind leader Emmitt Smith.
Peterson, who said recently he wants to play four more years, has earned $101.7 million in salary in his career, with a chance to make another $2.5 million this year with Washington, according to Spotrac. Those figures do not include endorsement and appearance income.
