WFT SAFETY LANDON COLLINS FELT A ‘POP’: ACHILLES INJURY ENDS HIS SEASON!

By Ben Sullivan

WFT safety Landon Collins has been placed on Injured Reserve with a season-ending Achilles injury,  confirming earlier reports that had assumed the worst about the injury he suffered on Sunday.

Collins hit the turf early in the second quarter of Washington’s 25-3 victory over Dallas, needing to be helped off the field after chasing down quarterback Andy Dalton. Collins immediately began grabbing the back of his leg and had to be carted off the field. He later told NFL reporter Josina Anderson he felt a “pop,” often a tell-tale sign of an Achilles injury, and that he’d require surgery.

“It’s always tough when you lose a good football player,” Washington defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio said Monday. “He’s a tough guy that was voted a team captain by his peers. Obviously, any time that happens, it’s something you have to work to overcome. We’re just going to ask him to heal up and stay positive. We’re going to carry on. We’re going to continue on and expect to play well.”
