Entercom, owner of 106.7 The Fan, has acquired The Team 980 (WTEM-AM), the radio home of the Washington Football Team.
The agreement involves an exchange of stations in four markets, including Washington, D.C., St. Louis, Philly and Charlotte.
“As the home for everything Washington Football Team, WTEM has established itself as a go-to audio destination for the team’s biggest fans, and we’re fortunate to welcome the station to our portfolio,” said Ivy Savoy-Smith, Senior Vice President and Market Manager, Entercom Washington D.C.
“Alongside 106.7 The Fan (WJFK-FM), WTEM will help enhance our position as unrivaled leaders in sports radio and allow us to drive dynamic sports talk throughout the DMV area,” she said.
106.7 The Fan is the flagship home of the Capitals, Nationals, and Virginia Tech football in the nation’s capital, and home to top-rated sports programs, The Sports Junkies — who can also be heard in regional syndication in Norfolk (96.5FM and 850AM) and Richmond (910 AM and 105.1 FM) — which airs Monday through Friday, from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m., and the ‘Grant & Danny Show,’ airing weekdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., which can also be heard in Richmond.
