ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler is reporting that WFT quarterback Kyle Allen is expected to undergo surgery in the coming weeks on his dislocated ankle and small fracture, jeopardizing his season.
A long-term injury to Allen would pave the way for Alex Smith to potentially start the remainder of the season, sources told Fowler.
Washington won’t know whether Allen will miss all of 2020 until later, sources said.
Washington coach Ron Rivera said Allen would visit again with doctors later in the day Monday about his surgery.
“It might be premature to say he’s out for the year,” Rivera said.
