WFT wide receiver Curtis Samuel left today practice early during an individual drill and was listed as “did not practice” by coach Ron Rivera.
Samuel has been nursing a groin injury and participated in Monday’s practice session. Rivera expressed confidence last week that Samuel would be ready for the regular season. But he appeared to have a setback with the injury, leaving his chances to play in Week 1 at home against the Chargers in question.
“He didn’t come out of Monday’s practice quite as well as we hoped,” Rivera said.
Washington signed Samuel, a former Panthers wideout, to a three-year contract maxing out at nearly $35 million during free agency in March.
