NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports WFT DE Montez Sweat suffered a jaw fracture and will be forced to avoid physical contact for the next month.
That means Sweat will be out for well over a month after accounting for a reasonable ramp-up period in practice. He will also be forced to alter his diet because of the injury although it will not require surgery.
Sweat already had four sacks this year on top of 12 QB hits. It’s a brutal injury for the third-year defensive lineman and for a Washington defense that hasn’t lived up to expectations in 2021. Expect the Football Team to continue underperforming on defense after losing Sweat.
