Kyle Kuzma’s new contract with the Washington Wizards is more team-friendly than originally thought, says The Athletic.
The deal, which is now official, is worth a total of $90 million guaranteed over four seasons, plus $6 million in unlikely incentive bonuses tied to team performance.
The contract does not include a player or team option and includes a 15 percent trade kicker.
Kuzma’s guaranteed salaries (rounded below) will descend year-over-year:
2023-24: $25.6 million
2024-25: $23.5 million
2025-26: $21.5 million
2026-27: $19.4 million
The agreement between Kuzma and the Wizards was reported on June 30 to be worth a total of $102 million over four years, but that figure represents a total of $90 million in guaranteed salaries, a total of $6 million in unlikely incentives based on team performance and $6 million if Kuzma is eventually traded during the contract.
